Journal Entry: the Chinese Long March

Journal Entry: the Chinese Long March

Feb. 9, 2021                       My home, USA                            74

Dear Journal,

I fell into a great depression Sunday, Feb. 7. I am okay now.

Finally, after many years of denying it, I am admitting that I have depression. This is a major victory for me. To live in honesty instead of denial is a good thing.

That’s when I began to think of the Long March.

Long March

I am thinking about the Chinese Long March. I think of it a little differently than historians write about it.

Historians say that this was a march by military communists. It began in 1934 to 1935. It was about 6,000 miles long. Supposedly, it was one army running from another.

I think of it as a march by a desperate people who were hoping for a better life. So they walked from one life into another.

Only the life they walked into wasn’t different. It was the same ole, same ole done by people with different names but the same motive: to gain power no matter the cost.

Stories

The stories from that march tell of ordinary people including families with young children walking everyday, doing without adequate food, water and rest. The stories tell of people who gave up and committed sucicide.

The stories tell of how they cherished the red flag and thought the people who carried it were friends and helpers. The stories tell how many times these people were betrayed.

They ran from one situation straight into the exact same situation. Stories from the after-the-march time tell of the same awful things continuing to happen.

So Journal, how do we, in this time and place, use the lessons of the Long March?

I realize that running to a place or time where I think the grass is greener is a mistake. If I do that and actually arrive in the greener-grass-place, I will soon find that it is the same ole, same ole just in a different place.

I realize that depending on someone else to fix whatever problem I want fixed is another mistake. Depending on others often leads to betrayal.

And, yet, as Opral says, “No one makes it alone. Everyone needs help.”

And, as I have explained, “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps is nonsense.”

Possible Solution

So maybe the solution is to find others who want to solve the same problem you do, join those people and work with them to problem solve.

Maybe the solution is to have many groups and each group focus on the solution to one problem and only one problem.

Maybe the solution is to find people in your geographic area who are committed to solving a certain problem rather than depending on groups formed on the internet or social media.

I say “geographic area” because I understand the elements of a problem in my area but may not understand the elements of the exact same problem as it exists in another area.

Journal, the only thing I know for certian is I’m not going to go to the greener-grass-place and I will continue to find solutions to the problems that trouble me with or without the help of others.

And so it is.

Journal Entry 4: Stimulus Checks

Journal Entry 4: Stimulus Checks

Feb. 4, 2021                                    My House, USA                                   74

Hi Everyone,

Again, I am surprised that I am not writing anything about English skills. You see, I am preparing my next book, Set-Up to Journal, boldly. decisively, with integrity for publication.

I need to do what I preach in that book: write what’s on my mind as if I am having a conversation with myself, for myself and written by myself.

Enjoy:

Finally, I realize that we, the American working class, are being played. I think psychological warfare is being done with us as the enemy. This on-again, off-again game of when the stimulus checks are going to be approved is crazy making.

I have no idea why we who keep this country, the USA, going, who have always kept this country going, should be so hated.

The actions of the Congress feel like hatred to me.

I have long suspected that the Democrats and the Republicans got together behind closed doors and decided stimulus checks would not be sent. I can hear the outcome of this meeting: “Republicans, you block it first; we Democrats will do so second. Then we will take turns blocking.”

Take a look. Isn’t this what appears to be happening?

Broken Promise

Last Fall, I became disgusted enough with the Congress that refused to keep the promise it made early summer 2020  about sending a second stimulus check that I am now a supporter of the Democratic Socialists.

Yes. I take seriously the Oath of Office I made years ago that said I will protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic . Yes, I am a supporter of representative democracy which is the definition of a republic which is what the USA really is.

However, I am over an economic system that does not serve all the people, that somehow allows certain groups to destroy the environment and the people.

And yes. Let’s admit it. Many of us suspect that these groups were the financial supporters of the Insurrection that occurred Jan. 6, 2021 in the US Capitol.

Government System vs Economic System

It’s very difficult to do, but it is possible to realize that a government system is not an economic system. This is difficult because these systems are so intertwined.

The problem with intertwining them is that the government system is used to protect and grow an economic system that is anything but equitable and democractic.

Even a brief examination of recent decades will show that this is so.

Strong Working Class

The truth is working class people should be so strong that stimulus checks aren’t needed.

However, change for working class people won’t happen until working class people change.

Yes. I know. This isn’t fair. The system should change, but this is now things come about: the people change and then the system changes.

Working class people have to figure out what to change so that it isn’t  targets for psychological warfare and a Congress that is clearly in the pockets of capitalists..

Think About This.

.Forensic psychiatrist Bandy X. Lee in a Scientific American article said something that supports my post on Mass Hypnois. She said, “When the mind is hijacked for the benefit of the abuser, —-.

I suspect that many our minds have been hijacked by politicians concerning stimulus checks, hijacked elections, the Chinese did it, and other concerns.

Brandy X. Lee says that the way to reclaim our minds is to pursue great mental health and to avoid anything or anyone who destroys that health.

So. Something else we have to understand and do: we have to know what great mental health is and then achieve it.

I’m willing to do this. Are you?

Be relaxed. Have fun. Learn lots.

Journal Entry 3: Articles of Impeachment

Journal Entry 3: Articles of Impeachment

Jan. 25, 2021                            USA                                             74

Hi Everyone,

The purpose of a personal journal is to provide a safe place to record one’s thoughts, feelings, opinions, actions, ideas, and activities.

A journal is a written record of one person’s life written by that person.

It is a historical document, and it is sacred.

So why do we need a safe place?

We have all witnessed the harm done to individuals because of something they said or did in their past. We have, also, witnessed the harm done to individuals because of something an ancestor did long, long ago.

Some folks have forgotten that the nature of a human is to change, to evolve.

By journaling daily what is going on in our life, we document our changes and evolutions.

I would journal

If I were to share my journal entry for today, I would write:

“Today, the House took Articles of Impeachment for Donald Trump, past president of the United States, to the Senate.

I felt sad.

Several times in my life I have taken the Oath of Office that says, “I will defend and protect the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that the President and his family were watching the rioters on Jan. 6, 2021. They thought it was a show, a way of proving how people would follow the President.

That a family who has profited, not only profited but grown wealth, would destroy the system that gave them the opportunities to do so is beyond belief.”

And I would continue writing until I could journal no more.

What I wrote doesn’t seem that dangerous, but if I were to post this on social media someday there might be someone who would dig wide and deep to find what was written and use these words to harm myself, my family, and friends

This is what we are cautioning our children about.

Posting on social media can be the wrong thing to do so I will continue journaling.

I hope you will begin and maintain your own journal.

After all, words matter. Your words matter. My words matter.

And so it is.

I know it’s hard but do it anyway:

Be relaxed. Have fun. Learn lots.

Journal Entry 2: Mass hypnosis

Journal Entry 2: Mass hypnosis

Jan. 15, 2021                            USA                                             74

Hi Everyone,

I am surprised that I am posting so soon after my first post on Jan. 14. I usually post only once a week.

I am again shocked that instead of talking about what I teach, writing with the English language, I am writing about hypnosis. To be exact, I am writing about mass hypnosis, something I didn’t know existed until this week.

Mass hypnosis is the ability to hypnotize large amounts of people at a time, persuading them to take action in some way. It is a technique commonly used in marketing and politics.”

Understanding why

I have been struggling to understand why women in my age group, seniors, who had people they know return from Viet Nam in body bags votedfor a person who said he loved war and then proceeded to prove this statement by warring with someone nearly every day.

I got part of the answer when something happened to a Hispanic businessman in a certain US small town. One of the town’s leaders said, “I didn’t think Trump meant us and the people who voted for him. I thought Trump meant those people, those people over there.”

In other words, people heard what Trump said but believed he didnt’ mean them; he meant those people, those people over there.

So, the senior women who voted for him may have thought that Trump wouldn’t send their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren to war, but he would send the children of those people, those people over there.

This was helpful but not enough. I kept listening and observing.

Second presidential debate

I watched a few seconds of the second presidential debate. It was several thousand miles away from me and my TV.  As I observed and listened, I felt my self being sucked into the speaker.  I found myself thinking “Oh, isn’t he cute. Oh, this poor person. Everyone is beating up on him.”

As soon as I recognized these thoughts, I disconnected. I have never in my life thought that any man was cute.

This sucking feeling so troubled me that I went to someone expert in human behavior. That’s when I found out about mass hypnosis.

This expert explained that this technique has been and is used by many people. For example, ministers of  mega-churches, politicians, and anyone who has a large following uses this technique.

They know how to use their voice tones, their body language, words, and props to get what they want: a mass of people who will give them money or something that will lead to money like votes.

Hypnotic trance

After learning this, I stopped my search. After I was almost sucked into this man, I understand why people continue to follow a man who continuously demonstrates his hatred of the two greatest documents ever written: the American Constitution and the American Bill of Rights.

His supporters are in a hypnotic trance.

I was lucky. I recognized that something was wrong and broke away.

I don’t know how those who have been in this trance for many years can break away. I assume mental health experts will have to help them.

Warning

I write these words to warn you that mass hypnosis is real. It is used every day. All of us have been victimized by it.

“The Dirty Little Secrets Of Covert Mass Hypnosis” gives an explanation of how this happens to us.

Sovereignty

We are each responsible for the sovereignty, the autonomy, the independence of our own mind. In this time of the internet and social media, creating and maintaining mental sovereignty is a must.

I know it’s hard but do it anyway and do:

Be relaxed. Have fun. Learn lots.

Journal Entry 1: Iroquois Confederacy

Journal Entry 1: Iroquois Confederacy

Jan. 14, 2021                            USA                                             74

Hi Everyone,

I have used Barbara Lucas teaches as my business name for many years. Until now, no matter how much thought I gave it, I couldn’t develop a website.

I couldn’t because, for many years, I was a pre-k and elementary public-school teacher. As most of you know, these teachers teach all subjects. They must know child development and how children learn as well as all this subject matter.

Then I taught on the Out School platform. I had to name what I really, really, really love to teach. I love to teach language. I love words and the magic that can be done with them. I love that all kinds of words come from the arrangement of only 26 alphabet letters. Wow!

Once I named that language as my area, developing a website was easy.

So. Welcome to my first post on my new website Barbara Lucas teaches!

This site is dedicated to writing the English language so imagine my shock that the very first lesson I’m giving on this site is an American history lesson!

You see, the Capitol of the United States of America was attacked by its own citizens on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Usually when a country has a sacred place that place has to do with their religion. In America, the Capitol is considered sacred. It is the place where the rights of all humans are celebrated, honored, and protected.

Perhaps American citizens have forgotten that most of the ideas in the American Constitution come from the Iroquois Confederacy. Perhaps we have forgotten the principles that the Founding Fathers choose as the foundation of this country.

The Iroquois Confederacy were many tribes of Native Americans who formed a confederacy so that the people of their region could live in wellness, prosperity, and peace instead of warring all the time.

They developed the ideas of everyone having a voice and that voice must be heard.

They had the idea that the job of the chief was to make certain that every voice was heard, actually listened to.

They had the idea that every tribe had an equal say in decision-making. It didn’t matter which tribes were rich or which were poor. The size of the tribe didn’t matter. Every tribe had an equal say.

The Iroquois decided what problems were problems for the local tribes to solve and what problems the confederacy needed to solve. In our time, we call this state’s rights versus rights of the federal government.

The American Bill of Rights developed from the experiences the American colonists had with the English government of that time, way back in the 1600 and 1700s.

It is time that we Americans paused and remembered our heritage. Remembering the ideas that came from the Iroquois Confederacy is a good place to pause. Perhaps we need to explore the ideas that these great people developed and gave to the world via the United States of America before we do something stupid and lose it all.
